The Perfect Blend

As most of you will know, I love needle felting. But I also love what comes before, the blending of wool to use for the needle felted animals. I must have about 150 types of wool/fibres, but it hardly ever happens that I just pick one type of wool and work with that. So, I take out the blending board and blend different colours, mixing courser and finer wool to get a good texture, or maybe add some bamboo or silk to make it more shiny. Sometimes it only takes a tiny bit of wool to make a colour warmer or colder. The blending of wool works exactly the same as mixing paint, if you blend long enough I’m sure you could make all the colours you want by mixing the three primary colours, but thankfully there are already many shades of colour of fibres available. Anyway, it’s a good thing I like the blending, because today I spent a while getting the right colours and texture for a Blue Heron I’m going to make. I’ll show the end result when it’s ready.
